"Swingin' Them Jingle Bells" Lindy Hop Dance and Competition This Friday Dec 19th at The Golden Skillet

This will be the last dance of 2008 at the skillet since there won't be dance next friday, so come on out and unwind from a week of finals and shopping, come dressed up in your best vintage or holiday threads and celebrate the holiday season and another successful swingin' year at The Golden Skillet.

This will be an awesome night of Swing, and Christmas Swing music, topped off with a crazy fun competition, to get you all ready for the big New Year's eve Competition at The Depot

Bring your partner or find one here Friday night and get ready to "Swing Them Jingle Bells"

Rules.
1.Dance Lindy, shag,balboa, six count, boogie woogie, charleston etc. etc. basically any dance of the great swing era you feel like doing
2. Couples consist of one lead one follow,
3. No punching, headbutting, tripping or kicking other competitors.

Time:
10:30 PM

Judges:
3 Judges(will be chosen on Friday) and the crowd will participate in picking a winner

Criteria:
You either dance good enough to stay on the dance floor with the other finalists or you get tapped out during the all skate.

The judges will use a simple system of
Thumbs up or down, or smiley or frowny face
Only one winner will emerge, no second , or third place
There will be no scoring sheet, simply you danced like a rockstar or you just Didn't cut it, more information will be given Friday night at the dance.
However extra consideration will be given to those dressed in vintage or holiday outfits... it still won't help you much if you can't swing it.. but it does help

Heats:Only 2
1: All skate starting at a slow tempo of 120 and gradually moving up as couples get eliminated to reveal only the best Four couples

2: Phrase Battle. Four couples will spotlight going out one couple at a time, two turns of 2 phrases each ( 8. 8 counts) then they will get to go out once more for 1 phrase each (4 , 8 counts), then the final all skate to finish the song... The tempo chosen for this heat will be Savoy Ballroom Swing Jam Lindy tempo

Prizes:
That's a secret but rest assured that awesome prizes will be given out to all the finalists and the First place winners will receive an awesome prize.

Cost. $0.00 , That's right folks this one is on the house. So come one come all and let's pack the dance floor with dancers dressed up in their best vintage or holiday outfit!
