I think this has something to do with this thread. http://boards.swingutah.com/viewtopic.php?t=1762

Some beginner have more fun with one style of swing than another. What they choose to work on makes a difference in what songs they like to dance to.

I've heard from some of the new crop of dancers at BYU that some of the new learners are pulling the "you're not supposed to" and "it's not that way" kind of criticism with each other, as in people are starting to get (beginning) ballroom dance lab mentality with each other in BYU's swing dances.

as corny as they were, the gap commercials years ago looked fun; oft times the dances we have do not.

The product isn't growing unless you build fun and social and sell it to death on everybody.

and pts's pov is a good sell. I'm drinkin that kool-aid.

those of us who have been around for a while should really make an extra effort to make newbies feel excited, comfortable and welcome at our dances. they are the key to our club

I always try to dance with every follow in the room, learn their name and offer them encouragement. I'm not sure what else it would take.

I've noticed you do a good job at that. Kudos.

What are they criticizing though? That is the question. Ripping arms off? I'm ok with that being criticized. [Emoticon not found]

For some reason, I read this imagining Ron saying with an Arnold impersonation. And that made me laugh.

Neither can I. I think it's the physique.
