Come one, COME ALL!!

Last year featured freezing cold weather, famed/infamous dance-off at Village Inn (won by midgit in a mumu), Frankie Manning's 1.5 hour story time, Lindy Bomb of Cache Valley Mall, crazy Hellzapoppin' Dance Comp (your very own Emily and Mike won last year! come defend their title and honor! lol), & Hyrum's sprung floor at the Historic Elite Hall!
A sneak peek at our guest teachers:

Hopefully, Harlem Nights will be a lot better than Cache Valley Mini Exchange '05.
[Emoticon not found] Don't worry, there's no doubt in my mind... or you can just ask boogaloo for his proffessional opinion.
USU Website is updated now. They changed the servers our information is located on. We are slowly updating our website, so if you want to check it out, we're at www.usu.edu/swing
Harlem Nights info is linked from there.
OK so here's my opinion on Manu Smith... this Cat is not just Old School or New School.. he's True School... what does that mean you ask? well it means that no matter how you look at it he will school you.. wether you are doing new school stuff or old.
Manu is a very versatile and musical dancer. I saw him for the first time about 2 years ago social dancing in Los Angeles and was really impressed by his energy and musicality.. then I saw him teaching at OSDF along side some other greats such as Steven Mitchell and Virginie Jenson , Paul Overton and Sharon Ashe, Sylvia Sykes and Katrine Lundgren from the Rhythm Hot Shots. His classes were awesome to say the least and watching him social dancing in person was inspiring. I am really excited to have him here in Utah, he has taught all over the world.. right now he is teaching in Switzerland and wil be coming to see little ol' us afterwards.. how about that folks!!??
Now as for Ria.. well she is the current World Lindy Hop Champion!! for crying out loud!! C'mon now??!!.. and she danced with the Hot Shots for a year.. now there is one follow I am really excited to take a workshop from as well as social dance with.. yeah! BTW for those of you that didn't know? Manu and Ria are very sociable people, not only are they great teachers and talented dancers but they are dancers like us... and like us they love to social dance all night long.. even after teaching a workshop class all day, so I would strongly encourage you folks to come for the whole weekend and experience this event.. I know it will be hard to top Frankie last year... but I think it will be close.
So come for the classes and stay for the dancing.. and maybe do a little competition staurday night.. Let's make it a real bash for Harlem Nights 2006
I might compete in the newbie division this year. Hey Buzz, wanna be my follow?
From swingutah.com
Flatfoot:There well be two competitions, intermediate and advance. Intermediate will have two dance songs the second played right after the first. And a there will be three winners. There will be one gold silver and bronze winner.
The advance will be very similar to last year. With three dance songs the competitors will be cut and cut till there will be three left on the last song and then a winner will be chosen. There will be like the intermediate three winners. All the winners will get a medal according to there rank.
Sweet!!... I was thinking of competing.. but well you know...
Who won last year?
I don't think so g4l.
Mike an Remily won the intermediate last year. I don't remember who won the advanced.
Mike & Pr-emily won the "newbie" comp.
Jazzy J and Tiffany (Logan) won the advanced comp (aka THE CHALLENGE!).
T_roach:Mike & Pr-emily won the "newbie" comp.
Jazzy J and Tiffany (Logan) won the advanced comp (aka THE CHALLENGE!).
Jazzy J == Jeremey.
2nd place was Grant and Laura
3rd place was Shane and Julie (Shane with only one arm!)
This year will be the ultimate rematch! ... except I don't have laura [Emoticon not found]
but will Jason, Tommy, etc... step up as well? Someone should compete with Squemily and fund her way since she can't go due to financial reasons [Emoticon not found] [Emoticon not found]

The Registration Payments Page is up. You can now pay via PayPal AND if I'm correct, you can pay with credit. Let me know if this works or not.
We are now offering a Friday only or Saturday only (both all-day) ticket price of $30. The website's info now reflects that.
Who will be judging?
Looking for a volunteer(s) / kindly soul to help with getting flyers out at the U on Thursday, the Golden Skillet, and the Y on Saturday. May require the use of Kinko's, a paper cutter, and then going to one of the above mentioned venues. Volunteers and kindly souls will be compensated monetarially (must be cleared with me or Ben first) and maybe even with a sandwhich from Logan's Old Grist Mill [Emoticon not found]

The skillet has alread been called for. The kindly souls going to the U or the Y would be most appreciated!
there will be five

Oh, and I'm guessing that the above posted posts were from FLATFOOT and they are in reference to Boogaloo's above asked question.
Is anyone from Provo going to Harlem Nights?
I might go on friday night....
Friday's my birthday, i probably won't go.
Happy early birthday!
(and why would you even consider not going dancing on your birthday? i blow off family to go dancing on my birthday, cause dern it, it's my birthday and i'm going to do what i want...but maybe i'm not as good of an example as i think i am.)
Plus, if you dance enough, you get like 5 birthday jams!
Can life get any better than 5 birthday jams? I submit that it can not.
SpecialK:Friday's my birthday, i probably won't go.
Well have a B'day jam for you on friday if you come up just let me know Flatfoot
More videos of Manu and Ria (some have manu with another partner and some you've seen before, but those old links appear to be broken now)

I want to go up for Saturday. Who all from Provo is going on Saturday. I'd like to go to the workshops as well as the dance.
so who's driving to Loganville on friday for the workshops from 5pm-9:30pm?
I plan on going to the whole thang
Buzz, put me in if you have an extra seat in your car. I shower daily so don't worry.
My car died on me. If they repair it by then, sure. If not, I will be looking for a ride myself.
Oh yeah, I forgot that you have a Hyundai [Emoticon not found]
Buzz:My car died on me. If they repair it by then, sure. If not, I will be looking for a ride myself.
it died pretty good, too. that was a cool noise it made when the starter was supposed to be turning.
having a car break down is the worst. good luck with that.
It was a bad day for electrical systems.... Buzz's entire car died at the beginning of the night, and right after I dropped the last passenger off at the end of the night my radio decided to end its miserable, unappreciated existence. [Emoticon not found]
Ryan's front tire blew out on the same night in Village Inn parking lot.
Oh yeah! I forgot about that..... i guess it was just a bad day for cars in general.
I really want to go, but I need a ride. If the only way I can get a ride is to go for Friday as well (if that person is not coming back), then so be it.
For housing, come chill at my place (no beds, but all new carpet and kitchen! hehehe). But I do highly recommend staying w/ britt & kat & squemily if she still has room. If you need her number pm me or pm her at http://boards.swingutah.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=175
btw, ben said that manu/ria said that these,
6:05-7:20pm Lindy Connection
7:20-8:25pm Communication/Styling
will focus on the follows,
so buzz there is hope!
I would certainly like to go one of the days, but if everyone's car is breaking down...
T_roach:so buzz there is hope!
SWEET! I can finally learn how to follow!
PS - My car is now fixed. Get this, a 100 amp fuse was blown. How? I don't know. But I can now drive if nobody else can and if people help pitch in with gas.
If anyone needs a ride PM me please.. I have vehicles available
I haven't heard much interest beyound 3 or 4 people from Provo and I have a lot going on, so I've pretty much given up on Harlem Nights.
I got a date for friday night, so depending on how much cash I have on saturday, I might go up for the second night, or just stay here for the BYU dance. [Emoticon not found]
Go ElChuy! Way to get a date! What are you doing?
swingdoll:Go ElChuy! Way to get a date! What are you doing?
