    Hey everyone,
    The Invitational is coming and everyone should be there. This will be a 2 day even full of workshops and competitions. This will be great. Let's see who will win as Utah's best dancers! [Emoticon not found]

    Mark your calendars for Oct. 5-6 @ the MAC (Murray Arts Center)

    FRIDAY OCT 5TH & SATURDAY OCT 6TH

    The Dance Centre

    4868 South State (1/2 block west of State street)

    Murray, Utah

    FRIDAY NIGHT, Oct 5th

    Doors Open 8 pm $7 Admission

    Strictly Swing Novice Division – West Coast Swing

    Strictly Swing Int/Adv Division – WestCoast Swing

    Strictly Swing Int/Adv Division – Lindy Swing

    Strictly Swing Masters Division – West Coast Swing

    (Age 50+ both competitors in Master Division)

    All Competitors Contest fees are $5 each

    Couples must consist of one Male and one Female dancer

    Tonight, you bring your own partner to compete with !

    Contest Entry Deadline 9 pm – Competitors meet at 9:30 - MANDATORY

    Contests start at 10 pm.

    **ALL competitors will sign a participation waiver in order to enter the contests.

    Competitors must dance 90% recognizable standardized patterns in the dance they are competing, complete with appropriate timing, rhythm and technique. Lifts, Drops and Aerials will be allowed in the Strictly Divisions, provided that the Lifts, Drops and Aerials as well as any apart movement are 10% or less of the couple’s routine.

    SATURDAY, OCT 6TH

    Dance Classes 2-6pm

    $10/class or 3/$25 pay at door – cash only

    This year we will offer a beginning and an Intermediate level of each class

    2 pm Lusiano and Michelle teaching INT Cha Cha

    3 pm BJ and Eryn teaching INT West Coast Swing

    4 pm Bryan Ackerman teaching INT NightClub Two Step

    5 pm Shane and Julie Shurtliff teaching INT Lindy Swing

    Beginning class instructors to be announced later.

    BALLROOM CLOSES FROM 6-8 PM

    Doors Open again at 8 pm $10 Admission

    10 pm Invitational West Coast Swing (Int/Adv)

    10:20 pm Invitational Lindy Swing (Int/Adv)

    10:45 pm Swing Kids Trophy Challenge (College Swing Dance Clubs)

    Invitational Division is “BY INVITATION ONLY” to compete

    Invitational Division is in Jack and Jill format

    Routine must consist of 90% recognizable standardized patterns in the dance you are competing. Lifts and Drops will NOT be allowed, and apart movement will be allowed for 10% or less of the routine.

    2007 Invitational West Coast Swing INVITEES:

    BJ Woolston, Eryn Dorobiala, Athena Carolan, Matt and Cami Webb, Billy Wright, Sherry Cotton, Monica Peterson, Diane Keene, Bob Foote, Jeremy Burgess and Dale Hamilton.

    Again we request 2 couples from each college swing club to compete in the Trophy Challenge, and please help me pass the word on we need the trophy back from BYU to pass it on to this year's winners. Haven't had a response back yet.

    BYU DANCERS: we're sending two couples to represent us at the college division of the invitational. if you think you've got what it takes, let me know and you just might get to play!

    the only rule is that at least one half of each partnership has to attend BYU.
