Meet our Featured Instructors!
John Lozano (Cleveland, OH):

Often known around the Midwest as "Liquid Lindy, "John Lozano is fluid and formless, indeed... What I was most impressed with about with his style was how unique and at the same time accessible it is. [John] fits into any blues environment, which is both very difficult and very important in our current scene." (Friday Night Blues) With a focus primarily on movement, John will be bringing an intricate look into the fundamentals and musicality of dancing at its most molecular (but by no means simply basic) level.
Devona Cartier & Joshua Boroff (New York, NY):

These two will teach you all about the history of blues though The Blues Shuffle and a class focused specifically on vintage style movements, all the while incorporating the rhythms, styles, feels, and tones of the music. Their classes include demonstration, feedback, lots of music, and most importantly, practice.
Solo Blues classes by Karissa Light (Seattle, WA):

If you enjoy moving your body, or are unsure in how to move your body, then these classes are for you. "You will learn how solo movement enhances and is even, vital to your partner dancing...Learn the feeling, the look of solo blues [and] be able to improvise and create solo blues on your own." (Karissa)
Belly Dancing with Jewel Murray (Washington DC):

As MezzJelly is all about fun and innovation, this year we are proud to present a belly dance class to work those intricate muscle movements and isolations to enhance your blues repertoire. Don't be scared, shake that thing!

I'm particularly excited to hear Waymon "Buttermilk" Meeks, who's played all of the MezzJelly weekends so far. I hear he'll include both electric and acoustic blues in his set, too, which should be exciting.
