    Presenting...

    Southern Belle Swing Bash 2007!
A workshop weekend devoted to the ladies: Lindy Hop, Style, and the Art of Following!

WELCOME old friends, curious onlookers, and Southern Belle devotees.
For your pleasure this year we present a new and improved program
that is sure to delight, to inform, and to entertain. Swedish
fireball Frida Segerdahl will be here to share a bit of her magic.
And the one and only Peter Strom will be sharing his wisdom and
    experience from a leader’s perspective.

As always, leader-volunteers of a certain skill level are invited to
join us at no cost. You should be a solid "intermediate" lead or above,
comfortable leading a wide vocabulary of lindy hop movements.
We are looking forward to a very special event this year and hope you’ll join us.

We've also bumped up the date to September (hooray!) so you can get
all your SBSB goodness a little earlier this year.

CLASSES: Exact class topics will be listed as soon as all of the
details are finalized, but here's a glimpse of our master plan...

We'll get everyone started with movement. Developing a high level
awareness of one's movement quality and technique is step one for
achieving the goals of this weekend. Once we're on solid ground with
movement, we will shift gears and start to look at the details of
personal styling, creativity, and nuances of partner communication.
To take all of this material and use it to bring you to the next
level, we will then turn our focus inward, looking at the emotional
and artistic side of the dance. You will complete the weekend with a
feeling that you are dancing with your whole body and mind in a way
that is new and exciting, and you'll feel inspired by a fresh power
and confidence to shine on the dance floor.

MUSIC: On Friday evening we are excited to present to you Atlanta's
top bands for dancing, squaring off for your pleasure in what is sure
to be an unforgettable evening of live music -- The Bonaventure
    Quartet
will charm you with its sweet combo groove, and The Hotlanta
    Dixieland Jazz Band
is sure to keep you on your feet! This
irresistible combination is guaranteed to please dancers of all
tastes, and we're very excited to have both of these unique bands
kick off the weekend for us!

As always, we'll have a Solo Charleston competition, and we've got
many more surprises in store. looking forward to a fantastic year!

Also a reminder that Southern Belles is geared for solidly intermediate level and above dancers (leaders and followers). You must have at least an intermediate understanding of Lindy Hop, and should be able to produce, without explicit instruction: good quality swingouts, lindy circles, tuck turns, and side-passes, and be comfortable transitioning between six and eight-count patterns.

Don't forget our epic Battle of the Bands on Friday night: Hotlanta Dixieland Jazz Band vs. Bonaventure Quartet!!!

And finally, as you'd expect, we've got a few surprises in the mix. But if we told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it? This year is shaping up to be killer diller. Don't miss out!!!

Only TWO MORE WEEKS left of online registration! After that prices will go up to at-the-door levels ($105). Save yourself $20 bucks and sign up now! (Housing will also shut down once online registration is over.)

    Breaking News:
Because we know you love to stay up and dance, but we know you also love the sleep, we have bumped Sunday classes back to start at 12:30pm. That means no class before noon the whole weekend. (You love us, we know. We love you too. That's why we did it.)

We'll also be adding a surprise contest to the weekend. Something new, something we've never done before, and something we doubt you'll find elsewhere.

Fellas, we've still got plenty of room for you, too. Come help some ladies out! They'll thank you for it.

Don't miss out on yet another fabulous Southern Belles weekend in the dirty south!
