Hey all, can't put this under "Recurring Events" cuz it hasn't recurred yet, but Thursday (June 14) the Apollo in American Fork is promoting Thursday Night West Coast Swing. Great floor and music that some of you Lindy Hoppers appreciate...sometimes. I think cover is $5 but I'll check. American Fork at 50 East and 50 North (where the exchange was held last year). Looks like a few Salt Lakers are making it up for the night so see you there!
Dang I wish I could enjoy that floor more often. It's the Elite Hall of Utah Valley.
(We had the Friday night dance of the the exchange in 06 and 07.)
Is the same couple still running the place. He was a great guy. I want to see him and his wife dance sometime.

Yes, Kirk and Amy are leasing the building, and yeah, they're a really nice couple and fun dancers too. They also sanded the floor down and put a finish coat on it....very nice!...very large improvement!
Any ways, I was duped into going down there tonight by a friend who (I thought) told me it was going to be a west coast venue. Not true, it's still a country dance venue (as if WCS isn't already a big enough stretch for Lindy Hoppers). I suggest if you're looking for swing on that fabulous floor to wait for the exchange.
On a somewhat related and unrelated topic... does anyone know if there will be an invitational his year? and if so.. will there be a Lindy Open.. and if so.. the dates.. or around when it might be?

Yeah, we danced on it when it was sanded down, but not polished. It was a lot better than I thought it would.
Ryan (or somebody) said the polish job was spotty. What's your report, Dan?

Yes, Auntie Pam called me about it the other day. I'm guessing it will be in Oct. like usual. That's about all I know at this point.
Sweet... I think the level of competition this year for the Lindy Open will be better than last year.. Meaning I'm thinking ill see more up and coming Utah rockstars.. IE Justin and Mindy Lou tearing it up out there
"Mindy Lou"? Oh man, she's gonna love that.

Sorry, can't give any info about it this year cuz I don't know. Somebody needs to prod Auntie Pam about starting promotions.
I hope there's Open comps again. I think they produced a lot of excitement and is worth doing again.
Yup yup.. Agreed I thought the open was a big success.. If I knew how to get a hold of her I would prod but I don't

At least (from what I hear) it was real country swing and not college-kid, herky-jerk country swing. [Emoticon not found]

Nope. It wasn't even a west coast night to begin with. I was tricked by a friend and subsequently put out some tricky info at the begining of this thread. sorry bout that.
