Some genius is planning a Lindy Cruise this weekend. I got a note on facebook. Which of course means that we are still competing with another event for out of town dancers, which was the whole point of moving the exchange back in the first place.
Fortunately this is new and untested whereas we are established, but we should send a pound of ULX postcards to Phoenix

Speaking of facebook-- I move that somebody who's an admin of the Swing Utah facebook group -- bobthecow, popthestack, or troach-- create a facebook event for ULX. If it helps the war effort, I will take my ULX postcard down to the HBLL and scan that sucker in for the official image.

I don't think Lindy Cruise is a new thing, but I also don't think that a lot of people will be going (sounds expensive). And finding a weekend where no other swing or blues event is happening is nigh unto impossible these days. ULX just needs to be louder and more exciting than the lindy cruise so we can get more people.

I think it is a new thing. When I was in Phoenix, it was announced as a new thing.
Bill Morse says he's sorry to miss ULX, and only found out that we moved it back a week after he had signed up for the cruise.

i remember hearing about lindy cruises around 99/2000... i couldn't afford 'em then, and i still can't.

The Lindy cruise is not a novel idea. Frankie's 90th birthday was a cruise thing I believe. However, the organizers in Phoenix are just starting this, hence it's new to them.

Just the same, it's a western event that's competing for dancers rather than one in Florida which couldn't have grabbed many of people away from ULX.

Actually way more west coast (geographic not dance) people I know were going to Soflex than would ever have/will go on a lindy cruise. So it is a very good thing that we moved weekends.

they were supposed to. but mysql isn't very forgiving when you tell it to do the wrong thing.
