    HI,
I was wondering if you have any fresh ideas for the two main dances for ULX in 2008? We have used the Apollo and the Grand Building for the last 2 years and want something different.

List the place and where it is.

    Shane and Julie's house.

I don't know if it's too far away, but what about the Provo City Library? Their ballroom is huge and beautiful.

I think they have had it in the Union Pacific station as well. Was that any good? I don't remember if I was there or not.

I seem to recall Union Pacific having tile floors, but I could be wrong. . .

Provo will be a hard sell though because of transportation issues. Maybe in a decade when we get rail all the way.

Sadly, AF has been pushing it distance-wise, so Provo pretty much isn't feasible. The Provo Library ballroom is beautiful!

I wish UP didn't have ugly tile.

I've wondered if Studio 600 would be available for Friday night. I'm currently all for keeping the Utah Fair Park's Grand Ballroom as the Saturday night venue. People just need to wear their sticky shoes if they can't handle the slick floor (or we could dust mop it a bit).

How about the Skillet for late nights still? It was packed liked sardines and jumpin! What a riot!

Meh... Provo Library ballroom is too small anyway. You would have trouble having more than 20-30 couples on the floor.

We are looking at the possibility of Studio 600. It is a commercial venue, so we'll have to see if they can do it and if we can afford it.

The Skillet is an option, but it would be nice to have some other place, simply because the sound echo.

We'll have to see what works out. Any other ideas?

The Skillet was a little small for last year so I have called Studio 600 for late night. That's not for sure but it's available. Also we cannot use it for a reuglar venue. They have their own business there on the weekends.

    The Union also echos terribly.

Are there other clubs in SLC like the Depot that you know of?

Shoot, when I saw it, it was empty, so I didn't get a good feel. It's not that small though is it?

Speaking of slick floors, I went to the MAC yesterday, and was impressed by how slick the floor was. I don't know that it's particularly available or otherwise for ULX dances, but just speaking of slick floors...

The MAC is a no go. Check out the comparable thread on boards.swingutah.com for a more extensive list of what's being considered.

i think we're trying to keep everything closer to salt lake this year. Even AF was a bit far for some people.

    Nice sleuthing!

On a more depressing note, more than half of the ones with websites linked are parked domains. [Emoticon not found]
