That is a long freaking article. I read half of it the other day, but haven't had time to finish.

Really good points about art not being appreciated, but the real question is priorities, busy schedules and social boundaries.

Yeah, the first half rocks. Can't say about the second half yet... [Emoticon not found]

Definitely take the article in stride. I thought this was a fascinating article in general and a heart-string-pulling article personally but it also has special appeal to those who have experienced mass transit esp. the Washington, D.C.

I also recommend reading the blog Q&A section. e.g. One reader was reminded of a professional cellist who played on the streets of Sarajevo after his concert hall had been bombed and destroyed.

This reminds me of my earliest experiences coming to the Wilk years ago and hearing the piano player outside of the Cougareat (I know there's a name for that place...). I love live music in public places. I should carry change/money in my pockets just to give it to people busking.

That's an absolutely fascinating article! Thank you for posting it!

I firmly believe that the hustle and bustle of America, and of many other parts of the world, contributes more to crime, poverty, sickness, tyranny, confusion, and apathy (to name a few) more than just about anything else.

I would loved to have walked past him while he was playing. I would like to think I would have stopped, but it would be really hard to stop if you were late for something. Still though, I'm late for everything so I don't imagine it'd be a big deal. [Emoticon not found]

Flexibility is one thing to consider as you choose a profession and an employer. In general I could stop on my current schedule, and I'm familiar with the piece, so I would likely have listened for a bit.

I'm really bad about just throwing money at people though. In general I see people in tough positions and feel that acknowledgement of their humanity and giving them time and attention is a better solution than mere lucre.

Whatever. Everybody knows that the code waits for no man.

Exactly, and since it's not waiting it doesn't mind being put off.
