In short, I despise accidentally hitting F1 (instead of F2) and then getting thrown out of my groove while I wait for Windows "Help" to decide to pop up. How do I disable that *#$! key (aside from physically removing the key)?

there are two (other) ways to get rid of it... one is to mess with the windows registry. the other is to use a program for remapping your keyboard (like autohotkey), and remap it to <shift> or something equally lame.

    I really like cheese.

    apparently.

traci. you need to stop making poll options that distract ryan.

i guess that's easier said than done, though.

    ElChuy:

    Install Linux.

p.s.: this is my work computer. i don't think that the IT nerds at work would appreciate my installing linux on their computer.

i tried messing around with the registry, per some dude's instructions on the intertube (i can't find the page now, of course), but it was less than effective. it was something along the lines of reassigning the file f1 tries to bring up. it didn't appear to do anything bad, but now i get a popup window that says something akin to "help! i can't find the help.exe file!" it's a slight improvement, since the warning popup comes up a gajillion times faster than the "help" page, but still, i'd rather it do nothing at all.

(ryan: i like cheese too. don't tell though)

    Linux is annoying.

Yes, I actually use it now.

And yes, I still think it's really annoying.

But, I'll probably switch to it fully some day.

What's worse than accidently hitting F1 is never going near the darn thing and having it go off anyway.
