Wow. I had no idea everyone was so bitter about these songs.
Songs that I do or don't like mostly depend on the day and my mood, personally. Although the Shim Sham song needs to die. Thank you for pointing that out, ElChuy. And Old MacDonald needs to be played much less often, since it's one value is the novelty of Old MacDonald being a swing song.
But for the most part, if it's playing, I'll dance to anything.

Chuck Berry is one of my all-time fave musicians and plays some of my fave dance music.
Is all his music rockabilly Id have to hear a song of his before I could even know what songs we are talking about. If it is rockabilly chances are I wont be fond of it. Ive just never really been into it.

If we're gonna say we 'hate' an entire genre, we better understand what we're hating a bit. I have a major connection with rockabilly. Swing was the punk rock for the 20-30-40s youngsters. The 50s kids needed something to call their own. The young Elvis Presley and others like Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry (Jerry Lee said Chuck was the true King of Rock 'n' Roll) were combining swing, country, and blues (all pure american sounds) to create high energy, danceable music. Roll Over Beethoven is one of my faves. [/hijack :p]
