Interesting concept born of too much time/creativity, and not enough outlets for such: Swing dancing while ice skating. Melissa and I were having a blast playing around with it, and we want to get some leads to come experiment with us sometime.

    Anyone free on Thursday nights?

    is this an unofficial date?

hey guys, this is your only chance so jump on it!

  2.

Unofficial date?? Those make me sad. Either it's a date or it isn't... no unofficialness here. If you wanna date us, all you have to do is ask... o_O

But if you wanna come ice skating with some swing girls, you're welcome to. [Emoticon not found]

    Woah... dude! I'm married.

  4.

I'm not entirely sure if I am proud or ashamed to be the ice skating lindy hopper. It was fun, though! Trying to do 20s Charleston in skates? We had some interesting unfortunate incidents there... Jamie was doing really well following Texas Tommys and whatnot, though-- she was skating circles around me!
Anyway, if anyone wants to go, those of us who went last time decided we want to go again, so let us know if you're interested in coming. Guaranteed laughter and fun, and I may even be convinced to part with some of my Ghiradelli hot chocolate [Emoticon not found]

You're right. Have your wife make the hot chocolate and you can skate with all the other ladies!

They make hot chocolate?! I need to convince them to replace our dwindling Stephen's supply at work with some of that.

I'll have been dancing for three years in May.

I must admit that chuy and gumbi are better with less time dancing, but I've never been adept at physical activity.

Yes. That was way fun, thanks to Laura who is a lindy ice skater. It was just over 3 years ago though. I think it's time we do that again. All she did was rent out one of the Seven Peaks ice skating rinks for an evening, right?

And I'll even bring the hot chocolate....as long as Cheri makes it [Emoticon not found]

Cheri makes good hot chocolate. Believe me.

And I think that you can get it cheaper. For some reason I think I remember Mikey saying it only cost the club $100 (which coincidentally is the same amout -roughly- that Guest Services cost per dance)

a 50$ price hike isnt to bad after three years and we were even a BYU ward good luck getting it they have tons of stuff going on there every night.

  11.

I didn't know guest services cost money. I don't know why I'd think that, but I did.

actually, they can be quite useful in emergencies. like that one time, before you were dancing, when that creepy 40-year-old-man was sexually harassing follows. guest services got the polizei to ask him to leave. good times.

I don't remember being sexually harassed...

Anyway, it would not have been that difficult to call the police. I don't think guest service presence there made a difference in the slightest.

i beg to differ. the point is to have a neutral presence there (someone who isn't there to dance) in case something goes wrong while the person running the dance is busy with other stuff. and if those girls didn't want to bug someone who was dancing, they might not have spoken up. neutrality is also a big plus if the person you are complaining about is the person in charge.

however, they do cross the line on less important matters.

    Beg all you want.

The only advantage I see to having them there is so that they can collect money. This is an advantage because then the Prez or a trusted officer doesn't have to do it.

However, I stand firmly by my claim that they cause more harm than good (albeit most of the time unintentionally) and that BYUSA clubs would be better off without them.

    But I might be biased...

I think everyone gets the point, Buzz, you don't like BYU guest services.....all the more reason to have a dance at the ice skating rink! They won't be there! And raising the extra $50 wouldn't be too hard, right? We'll just write 10 more scholarship appreciation letters!!!

you have to ask them for money first... "hey, man. you have a quarter?"
