In fact, it's a little intimidating to post on here if you are an outsider.

why do you think it feels like that? (a.k.a. what can we do better?)

I suggest we nominate a Forum Enforcer who will beat people up if they say the wrong thing.

  1.

I would like to throw in my hat for the position of Enforcerer

No... Ron... the Enforcerer would actually sometimes have to beat people up, not just make idle threats.

Oh! oh! oh!... Does this job make me popular with the ladies

It's not that you are doing anything wrong, or less than satisfactory. The truth of the matter is in the title. If there are 2 forums and one is the Utah swing dance forum, and the other is the BYU swing dance forum, which one would someone not belonging to BYU would be more likely to participate in?

[edit] this topic seemed worthy of its own thread... so it's been split from the USU review thread.

so what can we do? the website's now swingkids.info, so that's not as BYU-centric.

  9.

Well I'm a BYU student, and I'm intimidated, too. For me, it's because I'm shy, and I see a group of already established friends goofing off (and having somewhat serious discussions, too) and basically hanging out with each other. To me, it looks like a clique (try to ignore the negative connotations, there) that I can't break into, so I'm a little nervous about trying to enter the conversation.

That's why I"M intimidated to post. As for what you can do to help people like me, be really friendly. If someone posts on a topic, reply specifically to them, to make sure they know they're welcome around here (assuming, of course, that they ARE welcome around here [Emoticon not found] ). Make them feel like they can easily make new friends.

I don't know if that will help the problem overall, but it's the feedback that I have to give. Cheers.

    It's still kinda BYU-centric.

And indeed it should be. It's where all the SKC info is posted. But that doesn't mean the forum is strictly BYU people only. All dancers should feel welcome to contribute (or not) to the serios discussions (or not) that happen here.

can i just say that i am very anti-this picture of thomas and that one girl whose name i don't know?

that picture makes thomas look like a black dude. and even though he may think he's black, he is, in fact, pasty white like (most of) the rest of us.

    the end.

Their hands in the foreground don't look black. Britt's face is pretty shadowed as well though.

Ahhhh... a lovely shot taken on the 5th night of RAF at 3 in the morning... I caught about 5 or 6 min of sleep total.... and of course Ryan happened to walk into the cafe at that exact moment. hehe... then I woke up and went dancing some more...

  12.

The next few minutes after that photo was shot were hilarious. A group of dancers (Jamie from London, Lily Matini and some others) wanted to gather behind the chair and take another photo like this one with Martin from Austin. Thomas woke up though. Then, a few minutes later I noticed another dancer, a girl, was passed out so I motioned to them to come get a photo and they all started gathering around behind her chair when Jamie bumped the chair or something and she woke up before I took the picture. Everyone went crazy, blaming it all on Jamie. ahhahahahaha... good times...
