    i'm tired of sending out 50 or more texts at a time... if i set up a SMS (text message) "mailing list", would people be interested in it?

    i'm doing this for purely selfish reasons. for now, i would be the only person allowed to send messages to everyone. this should keep the amount of annoying messages to a minimum. you could send me a text to forward to the list if you wanted.

    i might set up more than one list (provo/salt lake/logan, lead/follow, etc), if it sounds like there's demand. let me know.

    That would be very nice. We just need to be really careful about what goes out on it.

    Not every Saturday's dance needs a message, but spur of the moment things like Buzz's party yesterday are nice.

    I think its a great idea I just wish we could add people not on the forum to the list of outgoing messages because they are the ones that need them.

    yes. there are a couple. most require using an online service to bounce the SMS messages off of. that costs money. the only one i found that didn't is half installed on the swing house server and is a huge pain in the backside. so i'm making a better one. the end.

    you've probably already heard of this site, but i'm putting it anyway:

    http://www.textmarks.com/ seems to let you setup distribution lists that people can add themselves to. it's free right now.

    maybe that will help keep people from freaking out when they get text messages about events. ( [Emoticon not found] )
