Still true. Can't wait to get a refill of lindyhopper spirit!
Someday I'll be a real boy... er... lindyhopper...

Virgil and I are leaving Salt Lake around 1:00 pm on Friday (to go to Logan). If anyone wants to carpool they are welcome to. We'll most likely be coming back Sunday sometime. PM or call if you need a ride.

It will probably be easier to keep track of carpooling from SLC in the SwingUtah.com thread. Unless you're going to ride up with Buzz to SLC in the morning.
This is just in from the Cap'n from the swingutah board:
Due to a conflict in scheduling for the USU Ballroom (totally not our fault), Frankie's Storytime™ will be moved to HPER 215. Same time (Friday, 7:00-9:00pm). Consequently, the BSU has respectfully (and sadly) withdrawn the Soul Food due to HPER regulations.
If you have any problems with this, you are welcome to call the USU Campus Scheduling and chew them out for screwing up a three-month reservation.

The masterclass invitation list has been compiled!
We have asked certain members of the Utah swing scene to submit a limited number of leads and follows from their area that they think would be able to keep up with an advanced level class. This way we are blameless for playing favorites or leaving anyone out.
If you are on this list you will be receiving a phone call very soon. An invitation to this class means that you do not have to buy a full weekend pass to attend, however, the class will still cost $15 for anyone not registered.
If you are not on this list, do not despair. Any full weekend pass holder is welcome in this class. We anticipate that Steven and Virginie will be building upon concepts taught in all the previous workshops. This way anyone who wants to attend the class has the opportunity to do so!
I'm leaving from Provo to Logan on Friday at about 12:00(pm...right?). Better yet - noon!

I agree with this way of doing things even if I dont make the cut Ill be able to learn from people who should be able to teach what they learned in the class. Correct me if Im wrong, but is the point of a masters class to have more advanced students being taught at a faster pace so they can bring things they might not have learned otherwise back to the scene?

I dont agree with this because I think it may slow down the teacher who will try to teach to all the levels in the class. Why not say if you were not invited then take the time to ask and learn from people who were. I think by doing this we would be able to help our scene in UT more because the advanced teachers will get more info they can pass on. Again let me repeat I would be fine not going to the masters class if my area rep. thought Id slow things down for everone else.
Here is a thread I started on yehoodi: http://www.yehoodi.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=825596#825596
I learn more about the spirit and history of Jazz dance by spending 5 minutes with Frankie than I do spending 10 years studying about it from other sources.
wow... Every time I read threads on the forums, I get the biggest case of déjà vu. How do you have the exact same conversations on separate forums?

I completely agree. Not that I've spent 10 years learning about swing, but just listening to Frankie talk let's you feel like you know what the era felt like. Story time was awesome!
