I saw this on the Swing Utah forum posted from a Logan dancer. Thought this would be fun for all the swing community to attend. I want to go! Take a look at this and post if you want to go!

hey- Got this email from our wonderful USU swing club president. EVERYONE GO!!!!!

"Hi Tiffany, my name is Paul McSweeney and I am the director of a non-profit called Our Unsung Heroes. We are in the process of raising funds to send a large contingent of World War II veterans over to Washington DC to visit the national WWII monument, something that was dedicated in 2004 (about 60 years too late). We are asking all the people of Utah to get together and send our veterans over to Washington as a belated way of saying thank you for their service and sacrifice that took place over 60 years ago.
One of the events that we are planning is a large 1940's USO style dance. We will be having it at the Sandy Expo Center on Friday, October 13th starting at 7:30pm. The band is Mike Tobians Swing Orchestra, and we hope to have the full contingent of 17 members in the band - so should be great sound! I realize that it is quite a way to travel from Logan, but it will be worth it
I would appreciate if you could put this on your calendar, and possibly email your members and help us spread the word.
Cost for the dance is $15 and tickets need to be purchased in advance. They can email and order tickets or call 801 491 8159 to purchase them over the phone. We have to sell the tickets in advance as we will have light refreshments catered and we need to know the numbers. (at the expo center, the only food or drinks allowed have to be supplied by the caterers).
This is about to hit the media, and we will be printing posters for the dance in the next couple of days..."

dunno...are all the bands already set for ULX? if not, maybe this band is a possibility.

oh, and if other people are going, i'm game.

  1.

I'd want to hear the band first.

But I think we've already got bands set... or at least have a list with at least one band confirmed for sure.

It seems we don't have a band confirmed for Saturday night. It would be nice to have a larger group like the ND Swing orchestra last year since the State Fair pavillion is a big room.

We do want to get bands and venues down over the next couple weeks so ULX registration can start. Oh, and everybody should advertise for ULX
