tommy:It is with a sense of sadness that I need to announce that both Bug and I have decided to resign from the ULX planning committee in order to pursue other goals. We simply don't have the time this year to put together an exchange of the caliber we have all come to expect. We hope that someone in the community will step up and take charge of planning for ULX 2007.
The exchange is in need of strong leadership to ensure that it continues to be a success. This should be a community event with large scale community involvement. In addition to the many volunteers that are needed, the event needs someone (or multiple people) who can motivate volunteers, stick to schedules and budgets, manage many different specific aspects of the exchange (ie housing, bands, venues, registrations, etc) while keeping an eye on the big picture.
I'm not going to choose anyone to take over, nor will i publically share my opinion as to who would do the best job, but I sincerely hope somebody will step forward and take charge of ULX 2007. If you're interested in doing so, please realize how much of a commitment it will be. (but it's also extremely rewarding)
Bug and I will be happy to provide all the support we can to make ULX 2007 a success. We'll give the committee access to our files, contact information, and past year's notes, which will make planning much easier than starting from scratch. We'd also be happy to offer any advice or answer questions that come up. We just aren't able to take on the entire task this year.
This thread would be a good place to step forward if you're interested in taking over, or to discuss what action the community would like to take.
Current plan of action (after counseling with Shane, Julie, and Ryan):
All who are willing to carry on the ULX LEGACY are hereby invited to attend a meeting to discuss the mobilization of the dedicated pro-ULX battalion.
Locale: Fuddruckers off of 106th S and I-15.
Time: Next Wednesday, the 20th @ 8:00 pm
GIVE ME ULX OR GIVE ME DEATH!

While I can't promise much help this semester, I will be completely available to do anything needed once I'm graduated in December
i want to be there i want to help. i will do my best. unfortunately i work that night and i will try my hardest to trade my shift so i can make it. someone owes me a shift change anyway!
tommy:Glad to see that people are willing to carry the torch!
I'll do my best to be at this meeting. I'll bring everything i can find relating to the exchange, let me know if you guys think of something you need that you can't live without.
Thanks, Tommy. Last time I talked with various people who are planning on attending, we were going to use this meeting as a time to list and prioritize what needs to happen. So I'm not sure what all we need, but whatever you bring I imagine will prove to be useful.
People I'm pretty sure are coming (please help me call to make sure):
Shane
Julie
Grant
Scott (gumby)
ScottieK
Virgil
Bryson
Greaserdoll
Ashes (maybe)
...
I'll be driving my 4 passenger car. The two Scotts are with me. Who else wants a ride? And who else will drive?
I will be there, but can't help with carpooling since I don't live in Provo. [Emoticon not found]
anyone want to pick me up from Arizona? [Emoticon not found]
Almost
I no longer have a meeting that night, so I might be able to make it. I'd like to help, but I don't want to be a main leader.
Aren't you giving me a ride back G-rant?
Oh uh ... ya! [Emoticon not found] MY CAR IS MINUS ONE EMPTY SEAT ON THE WAY BACK!!!!!!!!
