Buzz:Ah sadness... I didn't make the 1337 list [Emoticon not found]
Um that is because I don't beleive you have ever asked me to dance. But you are right I did forget a few people. BUZZ and Pedro.
Buzz that means you have to ask me to dance this weekend at the Harvest Moon Ball! Deal?? [Emoticon not found] [Emoticon not found] [Emoticon not found]

1337 = a good thing.
Yes. A good thing- it means my mommy was right when she told me I was special. [Emoticon not found]
There's a place called L33t Games (I think that's what it is) a few miles from my house.
ElChuy:Yes. A good thing- it means my mommy was right when she told me I was special. [Emoticon not found]
are you sure she didn't mean "special"?
traci:are you sure she didn't mean "special"?
[Emoticon not found] HAHA
a new semester.
what's the plan?
what did we learn? what should be different?
discuss.
If we still do the program we did this fall I need a refresher lesson so i can teach better I dont feel like the lessons come naturally to me right now. I also think not having been to lessons durring the fall killed all the time spent learning to teach that way. So I need to take the lessons again.
scott
Yeah.......
Yeah? That's it. The great sultan has nothing more to say?
Come on! I hang on your every word and all you give me is "yeah"?
bobthecow:a new semester.

Hmm... you mean I have to take what I said in our kitchen and type it up here? Ugh. [Emoticon not found]
hmmmm.... well although I didn't go to the BYU dances as much as I would have liked, I didn't really see many people improving from last year... Perhaps the progression just takes time.. or maybe something else is needed
On the more positive side, I did notice an increased level of energy in the swing jams, that was really cool to see... it seems like the more advanced dancers improved.. but the newbies remained newbies..
One problem that always exists which tends to lead to the "newbies always staying newbies" situation is that of turnover. Frequently we get newbies who come for a while, start to improve, and then for whatever reason stop coming. Those newbies are then replaced by new newbies, who begin the same cycle. Thus one of the reasons the "newbies" as a whole never seem to improve.
hmmmm.. The Bottomless Newbie Abyss
Which was one of the focuses of the progressive lessons, no? I mean, instead of teaching the same basic lesson, we made it a series of four so as to cater to those people who were actually interested in learning to dance rather than having a date or whatever.
Not to say that those people aren't welcome. Come one, come all. But we are going to teach the people who want to learn. I think that ideology of the progressive lessons was a big plus.
i think one of the problems, from what i've heard, was that it was hard to get regular teachers. maybe if there were the same teachers (who stuck to the lesson plan) for the entire series, the students would learn more? if teachers can't commit to a whole semester, maybe they can commit to one four-week seriese, and then have different teachers for the next series.
Ya, swing team STOLE all the teachers we trained (thanks for letting us keep John though). Those dance team directors are pilfers! But we now have a feel for who really can teach regularly. We would like to start training again though. Wednesday nights are good for me.
"pilfers" ..... could you mean "pilferers"?
I was just trying to make pilf into a verb, okay? [Emoticon not found]
Well since I'm working in SLC and trying to find a place to live there, I'm not going to be on team, nor do I plan to be down in Provo much, unless it's a weekend. On the plus side, I don't have HW, so I should have fewer excuses to miss stuff.
t_roach:I was just trying to make pilf into a verb, okay? [Emoticon not found]
Well perhaps you should focus on making pilf a word first... "pilfer" is already a verb.

That's a good idea. I needed something to focus my attention on lately.
Regular teachers will make a huge difference.
I'm busy.
Yes they will... I know that for a fact.. so maybe you should find some regular teachers
So you can pilf them? [Emoticon not found]
anyone who wants a refresher, or to learn the lesson plan, let's set up a time to go over it.
i will have more time to help this semester.. i work every 3rd weekend now.. this weekend i work.. the next 3 i have off!!
i might be able to help out...depends on when the lessons are and how long it takes me to get to provo in rush hour
Most days, rush hour is starting to clear up around 6pm for southbound traffic. Though sometimes it can get really nasty. But mostly it's not too bad.
I think we would benefit greatly from having consistent, quality (and fun-loving) teachers at the Saturday night lessons.
Currently on Tuesdays, I think Justin, Virgil and John are the consistent teachers. Any other teachers there frequently?
For the time being, I'm fairly free on Saturday nights. Maybe I should go to your beginner lesson and see what I can pick up.

Consistent, fun-loving, and they have to be good?
Yeah I remember how good things were when I was teaching every week.. That was fun
Boogaloo is fun-loving?! What?! Who knew?!
The old boogaloo was... the new one is just a freakin jerk.. he's arrogant conceided.. and has no respect for anyone.. however his Twin brother Hot Chocolate is a much better dancer and a really nice guy with a much more positive outlook on life... I hear he is coming to Utah this week

I agree I liked the style that was being taught better when Boogaloo was teaching. I was also not going to the beginers classes. I think these new lessons will pay off in time im just not comfortable teaching them yet. At all!!! I think comfort will come in time and practice.

Sweet, I can't wait to meet this Hot Chocolate fellow. Challenge!
