As far as I know Auntie Pam has been in charge or at least partly in charge of the Invitational for the last couple of years. She is well known among the swingutah.com group. Someone from there could tell you more Thomas.

Oh cool! It's Evan of UofU. Cool, cool.

Auntie Pam has been organizing "swing" events in utah since I was a baby.

    AuntiePam:

OK - help me out here.

There was a young man named Erin (Maybe I have the name wrong) Who was running the music last Fall for U of U Swing kids Club in the Naval Science Building. His dancing was seriously becoming very good. I thought he went to a dance convention with either Michelle or Emily out of town. If his name is not Erin, please correct me, get me a last name, number, and I hope he's still in town DANCING !

SO far, on the Lindy side, I do have confirmation from Michelle and Kristen - no other leads or follows. I will continue to try to reach those that I've invited by phone in the next couple of days.

Westies that have confirmed: Bob and Diane (moved here from Seattle last year) BJ, Melanie, Athena and Sherry Cotten. Anybody have Dale's last name? Bill Wright is running a marathon in St George that weekend (Darn it !)

I have the registration forms at The Murray Arts Center for Strictly Divisions - they are on florescent pink paper - BJ has copies as well on Fridays at IBS in the classroom of The Dance Centre after 8 pm. Please turn them into me or mail them to me ASAP - as I will only accept the first 10 received. Would like to see you strut your stuff with your regular partner.

Come see us on Tuesdays at The Murray Arts Centre !

COUNTDOWN: 30 days left till The INVITATIONAL

Who's up for the Challenge ?

    AuntiePam:

I need your help Things since last October have been interesting to say the least.....

I've been a little distracted............ [Emoticon not found]

Between my distraction ( No I won't tell you his name [Emoticon not found] ) and being a Dock Expeditor at the Airport Post Office on Graveyard shift, my sleeping schedule is very dysfunctional !

Additionally, I'm now an official student at SLCC - as well as an adjunct instructor. Three new classes are kicking my .............. Ouch ! ! !

Flexibility, Yoga and Pilates - my energy level is not jumping back

and it's been difficult to focus on my baby - The Invitational.

We've got 30 days to show time, and I seriously need some help in distributing flyers around town and wherever dancers go.

Kristen said she can help me with Flyers to the University of Utah, I know I can get SLCC covered. I can have Flyers at The Dance Centre on FRIDAY and at The MAC on Tuesday if anyone can stop in to pick them up with the promise to get them posted in as many places as possible. I can mail them too. Would you please help Auntie Pam ? I'm working on flyers right now, and posters should be ready on Friday the 8th

(Happy Birthday to me) I'll appreciate your assistance for the HUGE DANCE PARTY we've got scheduled on

    SATURDAY, OCT 7th

At The Dance Centre - 4868 South State, SLC

    Competitors get free admission.

If you LOVE WEST COAST SWING - this is the event of the year in UTAH ! We had 230 through the door last year, and hope for a whole lot more. We've ordered more chairs !

    See you in 12 days

    Pam[/quote]

[size[Emoticon not found]]btw, I emailed her asking to change the name "lindy swing" to "lindy hop". It was kinda buggin me over the last couple years.[/size]

YO! Utah State (grant and squ'emily) won the Swing Kids Trophy Challenge in '04, the U (kristen and ryan) stole it from us in '05. What TWO couples are going to represent BYU at this year's challenge?!?!? Who is going to step up? I say we have hard-core dance off this saturday to determine who will represent the Y!!! But the real question is WHO IS GOING TO CARRY THE TROPHY FOR THE NEXT YEAR???

(btw, it's a sweet trophy and you get your names and university on a little plaque on the side... ya, it's really cool to have your name on a trophy. just ask squ'em. if anyone want to see a vid of our winning dance, i'll show it off like it were pictures of my grandkids... if i had grandkids... and i had pictures of 'em.)

  3.

Well... I've been at BYU for a few years now... So does that qualify me as a BYU student?? I hope so.. If that's the case then Maybe me and valerie will be one of the couples to represent BYU... Yeah?? Anyone...anyone... How about Buzz and Cherie and me and Val... ???

I think an old fashioned dance off should determine which dancers are going. Audience decides! Who's up to the challenge?!

  4.

Nah, I tried to play by the rules last year and only sent BYU students, and I think we might have been the only college student couples on that floor. I say this year we throw everything we got at them and let the chips fall where they may (aka, we take home the trophy)

  7.

3 cheers for Buzz!!... Yeah that's what I'm talking about!! I feel this way about it... If me and Buzz are coaching teams for the college..we should be able to throw our hat in to the competition with the rest of the "Kids" bottom line is... I want BYU to win and I like being controversial

So, I guess I agree! You're right. So, I still say the battle needs to be this saturday... although it is conference weekend... are a lot of people gonna be gone? I'll be there for once. [Emoticon not found] Battling at the skillet would be weird, BUT now that I think about it, a battle Tuesday night at the lessons next week would be sweet! So that means anyone that is a swing kids club member/regular attendee can compete, right?!

The Third Annual Salt Lake Swing Dance Invitational DVD is ALMOST FINISHED.
I know that Rick got pictures from Vickie this week to use for the menu
portion of the DVD, so we're really close to finishing it. Rick is actually
producing the DVD this time, so we need orders to know how many for him to produce. Please let me know via e-mail at my main address:
auntieUNDERSCOREpamAThotmailDOTcom if you're interested or just send a check made payable to me: Pam Genovesi and send to P O BOX 26422, SLC, Ut 84126 as soon as possible so we can decide how many to produce.

Additionally, Vickie is working on the final pictures that she took at the
event, and will have those posted on her website: www.hollywood-fx.com
hopefully by the end of the week. If a password is necessary - it's SWING. She has the 05 pictures on the web site today. I'm very excited to see these finished products - and only a couple weeks after the event - that's pretty incredible timing !
