any of
these individuals, you're welcome to let them know that we are inviting
them
to compete. They will have to compete in Jack & JIll format.
Who is this person?
Who Lindykitty? You don't know Lindykitty? Where you been man?
As for a couple of the leads and follows, I don't know who they are either. [Emoticon not found]
Of course I know the lindykitty.... I was referring to "Auntie Pam"
She meant Evan from the U of U.. not Erin
As far as I know Auntie Pam has been in charge or at least partly in charge of the Invitational for the last couple of years. She is well known among the swingutah.com group. Someone from there could tell you more Thomas.
Oh cool! It's Evan of UofU. Cool, cool.
Auntie Pam has been organizing "swing" events in utah since I was a baby.
AuntiePam:OK - help me out here.
There was a young man named Erin (Maybe I have the name wrong) Who was running the music last Fall for U of U Swing kids Club in the Naval Science Building. His dancing was seriously becoming very good. I thought he went to a dance convention with either Michelle or Emily out of town. If his name is not Erin, please correct me, get me a last name, number, and I hope he's still in town DANCING !
SO far, on the Lindy side, I do have confirmation from Michelle and Kristen - no other leads or follows. I will continue to try to reach those that I've invited by phone in the next couple of days.
Westies that have confirmed: Bob and Diane (moved here from Seattle last year) BJ, Melanie, Athena and Sherry Cotten. Anybody have Dale's last name? Bill Wright is running a marathon in St George that weekend (Darn it !)
I have the registration forms at The Murray Arts Center for Strictly Divisions - they are on florescent pink paper - BJ has copies as well on Fridays at IBS in the classroom of The Dance Centre after 8 pm. Please turn them into me or mail them to me ASAP - as I will only accept the first 10 received. Would like to see you strut your stuff with your regular partner.
Come see us on Tuesdays at The Murray Arts Centre !
COUNTDOWN: 30 days left till The INVITATIONAL
Who's up for the Challenge ?
AuntiePam:I need your help Things since last October have been interesting to say the least.....
I've been a little distracted............ [Emoticon not found]
Between my distraction ( No I won't tell you his name [Emoticon not found] ) and being a Dock Expeditor at the Airport Post Office on Graveyard shift, my sleeping schedule is very dysfunctional !
Additionally, I'm now an official student at SLCC - as well as an adjunct instructor. Three new classes are kicking my .............. Ouch ! ! !
Flexibility, Yoga and Pilates - my energy level is not jumping back
and it's been difficult to focus on my baby - The Invitational.
We've got 30 days to show time, and I seriously need some help in distributing flyers around town and wherever dancers go.
Kristen said she can help me with Flyers to the University of Utah, I know I can get SLCC covered. I can have Flyers at The Dance Centre on FRIDAY and at The MAC on Tuesday if anyone can stop in to pick them up with the promise to get them posted in as many places as possible. I can mail them too. Would you please help Auntie Pam ? I'm working on flyers right now, and posters should be ready on Friday the 8th
(Happy Birthday to me) I'll appreciate your assistance for the HUGE DANCE PARTY we've got scheduled on
SATURDAY, OCT 7th
At The Dance Centre - 4868 South State, SLC
THE SALT LAKE SWING DANCE INVITATIONAL
I just want to brag that I'll be in France instead of the invitational. [Emoticon not found]
Heh.... have fun!
I think Tiffany Barnes or Mindy Probst should take Squ'em's spot.
Me too!
And Grant or Ron should take Virgil's place.
France Schmance!
I concur!
I guess we should start practicing Ryan [Emoticon not found]

[size[Emoticon not found]]btw, I emailed her asking to change the name "lindy swing" to "lindy hop". It was kinda buggin me over the last couple years.[/size]
YO! Utah State (grant and squ'emily) won the Swing Kids Trophy Challenge in '04, the U (kristen and ryan) stole it from us in '05. What TWO couples are going to represent BYU at this year's challenge?!?!? Who is going to step up? I say we have hard-core dance off this saturday to determine who will represent the Y!!! But the real question is WHO IS GOING TO CARRY THE TROPHY FOR THE NEXT YEAR???
(btw, it's a sweet trophy and you get your names and university on a little plaque on the side... ya, it's really cool to have your name on a trophy. just ask squ'em. if anyone want to see a vid of our winning dance, i'll show it off like it were pictures of my grandkids... if i had grandkids... and i had pictures of 'em.)
Well... I've been at BYU for a few years now... So does that qualify me as a BYU student?? I hope so.. If that's the case then Maybe me and valerie will be one of the couples to represent BYU... Yeah?? Anyone...anyone... How about Buzz and Cherie and me and Val... ???

Boogaloo:Well... I've been at BYU for a few years now... So does that qualify me as a BYU student?? I hope so.. If that's the case then Maybe me and valerie will be one of the couples to represent BYU... Yeah?? Anyone...anyone... How about Buzz and Cherie and me and Val... ???
I think an old fashioned dance off should determine which dancers are going. Audience decides! Who's up to the challenge?!
Dude I think that's a great idea.. I would be so there for a challenge but we are going to denver for the weekend saturday night.. Bah!! ... Do it this tuesday or next tuesday man... Or next friday at the skillet yo.. So I can be there
Don't you think we should let the kids battle it out though? Plus, i'm thinking it'd have to be a Saturday night to get the most people competing for the chance to represent the school.
Nah... who cares about the kids.. This is about beating your opponent and basking in the glory.. and the loser being booooed without mercy
Boogaloo:... and the loser being booooed without mercy
but then we'd have to listen to you whine on the forum about it...
Dude.. I would whine anyway.. don't you know me by now... that's what inexperienced beginners without any talent, who are just all talk, and who are jealous of other's skills and dance like crap and look like they are 80 years old out on the dance floor do!! so in answer to your statement.... yes.. yes I would
Boogaloo:Dude.. I guess that would include me [Emoticon not found]
Nah, I tried to play by the rules last year and only sent BYU students, and I think we might have been the only college student couples on that floor. I say this year we throw everything we got at them and let the chips fall where they may (aka, we take home the trophy)
3 cheers for Buzz!!... Yeah that's what I'm talking about!! I feel this way about it... If me and Buzz are coaching teams for the college..we should be able to throw our hat in to the competition with the rest of the "Kids" bottom line is... I want BYU to win and I like being controversial
Yep. Last year I was told that the "college competition" Swing Kids Trophy Challenge has nothing to do with college students. I was also mocked for only sending college students. I say WE do the mocking this year.
Actually, the first year ('04) winners were only half students as well,
::cough:: I ::cough:: wasn't a student that year. [Emoticon not found] [Emoticon not found]
So, I guess I agree! You're right. So, I still say the battle needs to be this saturday... although it is conference weekend... are a lot of people gonna be gone? I'll be there for once. [Emoticon not found] Battling at the skillet would be weird, BUT now that I think about it, a battle Tuesday night at the lessons next week would be sweet! So that means anyone that is a swing kids club member/regular attendee can compete, right?!
What about BYU alumni who happen to be in town that weekend =)? JK. But I really will be there.
...in Utah that is...not necessarily at the invitational.
Yo sauce, be in touch with the swing house cuz i wanna see ya!
lindysauce:What about BYU alumni who happen to be in town that weekend =)? JK. But I really will be there.
Dude, guys, you should send her up for BYU... really. She still represents, and she can send some serious heat to the other schools. Seriously, you all should do it.
I remember competing with her once... we didn't do too shabby, did we, Laura. [Emoticon not found] In the presence of Frankie too ::nostalgic glazed over eyes::
good times, good times.
I have never even been a student for the UofU, but I have been on their swing team and helped win a trophy for them in the college kids competition in the invitational last year (Kristen was a student though). heh. All you have to do is fly under the name.
This year is BYU's year to take the trophy!
Yo Sauce, are you gonna be out dancing at all that weekend? I've been dreaming about you.... okay, not really, but now that I know I might be able to dance with you I might.
or does that just make you not want to come out dancing? shoot.
Yeah... BYU... Hey StacK!! are you going to do the Lindy Open? Or you afraid to??? I hope you are man..
I'm only in Utah from Friday night to Sunday night...I'm coming in for my bro's wedding reception and that's about it. It's gonna be very family determined and a very short visit, but I will certainly try. I won't have a car so I don't know if it'll happen or not.
You don't need a car, Just make roach pick you up.
Boogaloo:Yeah... BYU... Hey StacK!! are you going to do the Lindy Open? Or you afraid to??? I hope you are man..
I've been so stinkin' busy the last few weeks. if it's not too late and i can figure out how to register for it (it's too late to mail registration in, but can i take it in to the MAC? i dunno).
Katie really wants to do the Lindy Open too!
THE BYU DELEGATES ARE.....
BuzCherie! AND Pedro & Candice!!!
Well there you go..
t_roach:BuzCherie!
CheBuz?
Buzzerie?
No, too much like "lingerie"...
That's hot...
[Emoticon not found]
You guys better get ready cause I hear BYUI is bringin a group... I hear They have ringers from Seattle
Sweep!!!
First and Second place. BYU rocked it like there was no tomorrow. Good job Pedro and Candice, Ron and Ginny!!!
it was fated...
We had a secret weapon, and she rocked!
Yes she did. They got a score of 3, lowest possible score attainable (aka best possible score attainable)
In other words, it was unanimous.
The Third Annual Salt Lake Swing Dance Invitational DVD is ALMOST FINISHED.
I know that Rick got pictures from Vickie this week to use for the menu
portion of the DVD, so we're really close to finishing it. Rick is actually
producing the DVD this time, so we need orders to know how many for him to produce. Please let me know via e-mail at my main address:
auntieUNDERSCOREpamAThotmailDOTcom if you're interested or just send a check made payable to me: Pam Genovesi and send to P O BOX 26422, SLC, Ut 84126 as soon as possible so we can decide how many to produce.Additionally, Vickie is working on the final pictures that she took at the
event, and will have those posted on her website: www.hollywood-fx.com
hopefully by the end of the week. If a password is necessary - it's SWING. She has the 05 pictures on the web site today. I'm very excited to see these finished products - and only a couple weeks after the event - that's pretty incredible timing !
PICTURES ARE UP!!!!
Though the password is "swing" had to do a little hacking to figure that one out
And look who's on the front page!!
