Hey guys, this is quite a bit off, but I thought I would get some of you thinking about it ahead of time. I went to a few dances last year and have seen some of the clips from the classes and competitions so I am incredibly stoked about this year. All of you could come and dance your feet off, as well as get to visit me in my hometown. [Emoticon not found]
almostapoet:I was in France for a couple weeks and have received many questions about the Festival.
...Here are the answers to most of them.
See you at Showdown!

about vernacular music and dance, open practice time, mini-lessons, and
of course social dancing.
THE WEEKEND ALSO INCLUDES:
San Diego's favorite outdoor dance saturday after-noon: Lindy By The
Bay, a new year's eve toast, a tap jam for all levels, fast exciting contests,
and social dancing, social dancing, social dancing, and more social dancing.
Please note the other minor change: on Sunday and Monday between 11am and 5am,
the ballroom will not close; music will always be playing!
Plus, there is really good food and drinks at reasonable prices on the
premises. (Vegetarian too!) Claire, the owner of Claire De Lune, is the
awesome person who allows us to hold our festival. Check out her site:

Plus, there is a free event! Lindy By The Bay has no limit on capacity
and is a free and public event. Don't miss it.

local housing for those that need it. There will be a limited amount of
housing available; first come first served. Buying your tickets in advance
helps the festival run more smoothly.
A new and up-to-date website coming soon! Be on the lookout for
cheap flights! You will not want to miss new years at the Rhythmic Arts Festival.
i have no idea what i'm doing for new years' this (next?) year, let alone where i'm going to be. i'll add it to my list of possibilities.
Registration opens up the 15th.... the website is fully live. Check out the schedule and the bands...
I am drooling over the chance to dance like this.... bwahahaha
wow.
sounds fun but also dang expensive.
Totally worth it. Oh yeah. For sure.
Check that.......... registration is open NOW. Housing and contest registration opens the 15th.
i'm in! i totally just won a pass at an auction for $55. [Emoticon not found]
now i just have to get there....
I went to this 2 years ago with Emily, Evan, Amanda and Erin and it was by far the best new years I have ever had. I highly recommend it! I want to go so bad. Thinking about ditching the carribean cruise I have planned to go. heehee
Just a quick update.... registration cost goes up $15 after oct 15, (and then another $15 nov 15, and another $15 dec 15) so register now! It's going to be fsk'ing sweet!
hmmmmm.........I'll have to think about this.
Do not think, only pay. Clear your mind of all obstacles to true registration. [Emoticon not found]
No expensive trips for me until I have a job with a guarantee of good income.
sell blood to dance.
Better yet, sell plasma. It is replaced faster and you can get more money for it.
Though the needle is bigger and it takes more time. [Emoticon not found]
I am planning on going to this for sure too. I am going to buy my tickets next week. Who is thinking of going.
So far:
Traci
Jessa
I'm going to be there, and can offer housing to a few utahns that let me know ahead of time (ie before thanksgiving) as I am also offering housing to some out of state dance friends and only have so much room....
Traci is going, Jessa is thinking about it..... what abou Squem and Kristin? They talked about it......
Really guys, it's going to be so awesome it will rock your socks. I promise.

I want to go for sure. I put in the time off this weekend. Can I bum you up for housing chewy??
Of course.

Sweet! Thanks. I am super excited. Do people usually fly or drive to this? (I am wondering if I should start to look for plain tickets) Hmmm
Can't wait!
Either one... and you can get fancy or plain tickets, i guess... [Emoticon not found]
i think there are some people trying to carpool. check on swing utah's boards. i still don't konw how i'm getting there or back, since i'm not making any plans until i have a permanent job.
[Emoticon not found]
I don't think anyone but us three have really commited. But I will keep my options open. I would rather carpool if a group is wanting to go. That would be allot more fun anyway.
Woohoo I saw some footage from last year. We are going to have a blast. The lessons on Saturday look great too.
I want to go, but I know I can't afford the whole thing. There's no dance only pass and I'm waiting to see if people can pay for dances at the door. I'd have to carpool, too. I don't know. We'll see.
Money situation doesn't look so great. I won't be able to go to this.
[Emoticon not found]
i'm pansying out too. i think i broke my tailbone last night when i bounced down some stairs, so there will be no bootie-shakin' for traci this weekend. [Emoticon not found]
anyone wanna esplain why i am so freaking accident-prone?
Amazing event, absolutely amazing! Ranks in my top three favorite events with Showdown and Camp Jitterbug! My photos.
Thanks to Thomas for hosting me!
This picture is something else.
Looks like Anna Whitmire, my partner for the lindy contest...
Indeed it is. She's fun to dance with.
