DISCLAIMER: This post was posted by a poster who really went through middle school AND high school during the 90s. The 80s were considered out of date, nerdy and way out of style. Now, I'm diggin' tons of things that came out during the 80s. I can't believe it, but I think it's fun anyway. Only read this thread if you appreciate the 80s. In addition, please refrain from 80s bashing in this thread.

    The Summer of 80s Movies!!!

Okay, here's the vision. I really want to watch a movie up a canyon at a campsite. This movie will be (this decision was made after much deliberation and riproarious laughter secondary to extensive quoting of the the following movie) GOONIES!!! Chunk rocks! I'll almost hurt myself laughing at the part where he gets locked in the freezer with the dead guy a few months ago. Ooh man... phew. That was funny.

BUT, we need a generator to make this happen.

    And a TV.

    And a the movie.

    And a VCR/DVD player.

Maybe even a small sound system.

    Oh and a couch.

And a truck to carry this stuff.

I called this the Summer of 80s movies for a reason. I propose a plan to watch Goonies during June, the Karate Kid in July, and the Sandlot in August. Only people who enjoy, appreciate and love these movies and want to be like Daniel-san (he does get the girl in the first one) should attend.

o/` You're my night in shining armor, from a long time ago... o/`

I have a big van that we could use in late August, but Sandlot is the only movie I can recall seeing in it's entirety within the last decade. Could you push the movie showing order around?

There is a method to my madness...

Goonies: I just really want to see... NOW!

Karate Kid: Uh, I just want to see it next.

Sandlot: I watch it every August outdoors. Last year I watched in a baseball field behind the LA Temple. WOW!!!

Other 80s movies I would love to see: Can't Buy Me Love, Back to the Future (I, II, or III), ET, Star Wars (Episodes V or VI... I'm sad that IV isn't an 80s movie, but they should be unspecialized and in widescreen [Emoticon not found]), Dark Crystal, Labyrinth

I hate to rain on the 80's parade, but Sandlot was released in 1993 and therefore can't really be considered an 80's movie. Some other 80's movies that are considered to be tops would include:

    The Princess Bride

    16 Candles

    Better Off Dead

    Ferris Bueller's Day Off

    Joe vs. The Volcano

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Any of the first 3 Star Wars movies

    Teen Wolf

Either of the first two Back to the Future movies

    E.T.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Umm...those are all I could think of off the top of my head. But hopefully those will be enjoyable.

Also, this is a bit unrelated but I've been watching MTV's Yo Momma show and found a website that has some funny yo mama jokes if anyone's interested.

Star Wars: A New Hope is not an 80's movie, sorry, 1977. Close Encounters of the third kind is also 1977.

I'm afraid I've only seen half of these movies

Dang internet!! I so would have beat Scott to that post! Grrr... Love those movies! John Williams rocks!

Ya, that makes more sense about Sandlot now that I think about it. I saw it in about 1993 in the Lewiston Utah theatre for $1, Soda for $.25, popcorn for $.50. Frankly it was pretty stinkin awesome.
