So about the band.
The sax player / band leader who was going to town was a freshman who sat next to me in band my junior year when I went to High School here in Provo as opposed to the 3 years I attended in Cali. I didn't recognize him since he's grown a foot taller since then, etc.
Dr. Fullmer, the band director at Timpview ran a tight ship, and could be a very inspiring teacher. Chris was doing jazz studies for the past couple of years, but is switching to music Ed.
As for the rest of the band, I really noticed the trumpet player fail to hit several notes on exposed and solo licks. There were a couple other songs where the whole group had trouble getting together on rhythm. I'm not a very good jazz critic so I can't really say much aboiut the rest of the band other than the age disparity between the 22 year old sax and drums mixed with 4 grey haired men on trumpet, bass guitar, ???, and electric fake midget grand piano
The vocalists I can comment on because I notice when people really get out of tune and jump keys. Only the second girl, Jenny?, managed to produce good solid vocals.
Chris said something about asking to play for us, and he didn't get much of a response, though I guess whoever he talked to wanted to hear what they are capable of. They do need some work, and a little more experience with swing dancing in general.
