Just FYI so all ya'll are aware of what's up in the northern sector.

    Elections are Tonight!

First of all, we'd like to thank all of y'allz who

made the effort to attend Swing Club this year.

    Huzzah!

Now that we have that out of the way, here's the meat

    of this email: PARTY!

    Where? HPER 215

    Who's invited? Anyone and everyone.

    Party Schedule:

    www.usu.edu/swing/challenge/challenge.html)

    9:05pm-9:25pm: More dancing,games, and contests

    * Did we mention we're voting for next year's Swing

Council? Well, we are. All positions are open to

anyone to sign up for until 7:45pm.

Council Positions (Descriptions will be handed out):

    -President (& Vice President)

    -Treasurer

    -Club Chairperson

    -Publicity Chairperson

    -Activities Chairperson

** Some of the games and contests may include: Shorty

George Race, Soda Challenge, Steal Dance Contest, Best

Dressed Contest (oh yes... Best dressed), Door Raffle,

    May Pole contest, etc.

    President

The president of the club is there to serve every member in the club. He/She is responsible for all that occurs in the club. The pres. oversees the weekly committee meetings and attends the monthly CYSCO meetings. The president discusses all issues with the council, but will many times be required to make on-the-spot decisions that affect the entire club. The president’s number one concerns are the club members themselves, and second, that the entire world be taught to swing.

    Vice President

The vice president is also in charge of serving every member in the club. He/She is required fill in when the president cannot be there. The VP, under the direction on the president will be in charge of training the committee chairmen/chairwomen in their individual responsibilities. The VP should be willing to help out in any area of need in the club. He/She should be a support to the president and the common objective of the government.

    Treasurer

The treasurer is responsible for all the money flow in and out of the club. He/She should have an active budget and should constantly be informed of any income or expense that occurs. All expenditures should be approved through the treasurer. He/She will be responsible for choosing honest committee members to help with the cashier work at any pay-to-enter activity. Fundraiser activities and sponsorships are also part of the treasures’ responsibility. The treasurer will be held responsible for any money fraud, theft, or attempt to cheat, or gain money illegally from the club.

    Club Committee Chairman

The club committee chairman is responsible for the weekly swing club dances. The CCC is in charge of choosing committee members who will be able to help out in all of the following responsibilities. He/She should organize the instruction that takes place, and making sure the instructors know when and where they will be teaching. The CC should work with the PC in making sure that club times are known throughout USU campus. He/She should make sure that all new members or visitors are properly greeted, and directed to the instructors, and that all members are having fun and dancing. Club should be a place where everyone feels welcome and loved.

    Activities Committee Chairman

The activities committee chairman is responsible for all the activities, dances, performances, ect…ect…, that involve swing club (excluding the weekly club dance). He/She is in charge of selecting committee members who are willing to help share the large amount of work that exists in this committee. The committee will communicate with local groups and distant groups in order to inform the club of local and distant swing opportunities. Setting up, and organizing workshops is a critical job, in order to help all the members progress. The ACC must oversee all of these activities, and use creativity in order to make the year fun for all.

    Publicity Committee Chairman

The publicity committee chairman is responsible for getting all the swing information out to the world. He/She will be in charge of choosing committee members who will work well with people outside of swing club. Advertising every event that involves swing club will be a critical assignment for the committee. Never again should anyone be surprised to hear that there is a swing club on the USU Campus.

The main issues to be faced by next year's council in my eyes:

    1) Make USU's swing club meetings appealing to out of towners. They want to come, but if dancing only happens from 8:30 to 9:30, they won't make the drive. Esp. if it's the same night as the U.

    2) Elite Hall needs some serious rethinking. We must truly utilize this historic venue. We need some people who will think out of the box.

    Side issue/goal:

    A) Get Jeremy to teach outside of Cache Valley. [Emoticon not found] He's arguably the best in Utah.

I'm severely disinclined to go to any USU event by myself. If however, someone is carpooling from Provo, or SLC, let me know, and I might be able to squeeze it in.

Don't worry. That leaves plenty of time to add a few skeletons to the family closet, embezzle some funds, accumulate a few indescretions here and there....you know, politician stuff.

That was an interesting conclusion which merely illustrates the way pts thinks. We could hang out and do stuff however.

But if you let the U club know that you're around, they're pretty hard up for activity these days. They're desparate enough to have *me* teaching for them.

Congratulations to all of the Utah teams that went out to represent at the Intercollegiate Competitions in Boulder, CO!

    (Ravings of a Aggie-biased person):

Special congrats to USU's Swincopation for winning 3rd place!!! Also, kudos to Justen Hansen for winning the Jack and Jill, and the Intercollegiate Strictly Lindy Competitions. Allow me a little self-indulgence when I say I'm especially proud of the the Swing Set's performance. The crowd loved it!!!

BYU did an awesome job in their performances!! I'm so glad that they were able to come out!!!!
