Hey for anybody who wants to go to a really great jazz concert, I sing with a vocal jazz group called "Six Miles Ahead," and we are performing this Saturday, April 8th, 7 p.m., at the high school jazz festival in Magna, utah (outside of slc), along with an awesome combo (one of the players toured with miles davis, another used to play with harry connick jr). We are also performing on april 25th in Lehi which will be a benefit concert for Joseph Fifield, an awesome jazz pianist and friend who recently passed away in a hiking accident. The april 25th concert is being held at lone peak high school in Lehi. if anyone wants more info, let me know. We also have a website: sixmilesahead.com, (just recently created--not quite functioning fully, but you can listen to our music),have a cd for sale, etc--check it out! [Emoticon not found]

The concert on the 25th seems more reasonable as it's not in the middle of nowhere, and takes place after school is pretty much over.

No promises yet, but hopefully someone will reannounce it when this gets closer.

  1.

Sounds fun! I can't go to the one this week, but I might be able to go to the one on the 25th. What time is that one at?

The concert on the 25 may be moved to the 26---probably at 7:00 p.m. I should know within the next couple of days the exact time, location, and cost--it should be great!

  2.

    Keep us posted!

You guys need a myspace page. I've decided that even though there's bad things about myspace, it's a GREAT way to market yourself as a musician.

I just got a message from this guy randomly -- http://www.myspace.com/gregdowns -- and I actually listened cuz he's from Cache Valley. Pretty good stuff too.

Hey everyone, here is the correct info. for the concert on the 25:

Who: Six Miles Ahead (utah's only professional vocal jazz group![Emoticon not found]) (performing with bassist Lars Yorgason, drummer Mitch Lee, and pianist Amy Ward)

    When: 7:30, Tuesday april 25

Where: Cedar Ridge Elementary school in American Fork

<s> Directions: Take 1-15 to the 5th East exit in American Fork

    Turn right on State

Turn left at the second stop light (this is the same road the hospital is on and you will see hospital signs pointing the same way)

At the next stop light turn right, and cedar ridge will be on your right (it's next to lone peak high school)

    </s>

edit: turns out the directions were wrong... the address is:

4501 W. Cedar Hills Drive, PG.

    [get directions]

*I'm sure you can always look it up on mapquest if you want individual street names*

What for: for fun! It was intended to be a benefit concert for our late friend and jazz pianist Joseph Fifield, but due to short notice, we will be having an official benefit concert for him in the middle of may. This concert is free, but a portion of the CD sales will be donated to his family. Hope you guys can make it! If you want to check out our website here it is:

Kate, I don't see your bio on that website.

I'm trying to decide if that Adam sat near me in Mens Chorus my freshman year.

I won't be around in mid-May. I'm also fairly broke until I get my federal return. Is the any of the music danceable?
