This Friday, March 10, at 8:00 PM in the Wilkinson Center Ballroom, the BYU 2nd Stake will bring in the Joe Muscolino Band for a stake dance. Let's get some good dancers to come crash the party; it's a great alternative to the DanceSport Championships or a great after-dancesport activity.
I don't normally speak out in promotion of live bands, but the Joe Muscolino Band is great; they know how to play for dancers. Pass the word on to your Provo dancing friends, and let's get this party started.
NOTE: SEMI-FORMAL DRESS IS REQUIRED. NO JEANS/CASUAL CLOTHING.
what kind of band is it? big band? jump blues? salsa? everything?
They're versitile... they play lots of styles--most of which are swingable. It makes them very pleasant for dancers. You also might be able to get in a Salsa or an occasional slow dance or something.
I am gonna be at the OC Exchange friday (whoo hoo!) or I would so be there... but have fun everyone and go!
[hajack] COME TO THE SKILLET [hajack]
sqemily:[hajack] COME TO THE SKILLET [hajack]
... unless you will already be down here near BYU, don't want to pay a cover charge, and want to be assured that the music will be good and the party will be happening... but thanks for the advertisement anyway, Em.
I forgot to mention:
If you come you have to dress semi-formal. They'll boot you if you're wearing jeans/casual clothes. (I'll try to edit the original post to specify that).
Uh oh! I'm torn! I want to go to both! Squemily! Come with me to this! [Emoticon not found]
I know I'm torn to especially because it's free and local. I'll probably go to this. Sorry Sqemily! Unless a lot of people want to go to the skillet then I'll go there.
It's pretty much official. I'm so there! My friend Janette is coming too. YAY for GOOD LIVE MUSIC!
I'm there. Looks like I'll be ditching the Skillet this week.
Me too. Friday is my birthday (I'll be 20-finally not a teenager anymore-yeah!) so I'm inviting all those that can join me to dinner friday before this shindig at the Olive Garden on University Parkway at 6pm and then we can go crash this dance. Come and socialize even if money is a problem (you can have free breadsticks).
Don't worry, Ash... you'll always be a teenager to me. [Emoticon not found]

can't I'm running the skillet
EXACTLY, that means you can conveniently close it for the night, right?
I don't want to ruin my chance of being able to run it again.
ash:(I'll be 20-finally not a teenager anymore-yeah!)
this isn't your 18th birthday?

That's a little creepy golden state man.
So uh what happened to california man?
btw, I had a few good dances to the band!
Cali boy was somewhat late. We actually had a few people come late; such as our fearless leader, Remily (she's looking at me as I use the forum) , the man in purple and others. It was fun, we could have just used a few more follows. I told a bunch of girls who I danced with to come to Swing Kids though.
Meh, it was alright. But honestly, I hate ward activities because of all the crap music you have to bare before you actually get something danceable.
Ya, ash and virgil left at like 9:30. Janette and I left at 10 or so.
Funny I didn't see you. I got there at about 9:30 (but probably didn't find any of the good dancers until after 9:45).
Cheri and I didn't get there until like 10 or so

::shrug:: ya, we were kinda by the entrance during L.O.V.E., At Last and that latin song.
Hmmm... you must have left around 9:30 or so. I never heard those songs. I love that L.O.V.E. song. Oh well--there's always next time.
