Hi BYU Swing Kids,
Tommy and I are interested in teaching Balboa at BYU... maybe a four or five week progressive class or a workshop series. We'll be down there the first week in November teaching an advanced class and we're really excited about promoting Balboa into the Utah swing scene. Let us know if you're interested and we'll set something up!
Thanks you guys!
Bug

No, that is a good thing. As in, it's close dancing that's not dirty. Best of both worlds!
Bug, that would be awesome. We need more bal in this scene. Talk to Laurel about scheduling the 4 or 5 week bal workshops. I can get you her #.

Nice! Hey, we could teach a 4 or 5 week class and maybe have Tommy DJ for part of the dance sometimes, too. Yeah, let me know the contact info and we'll make this happen.
Can I bal with Buzz and Justin?
1) 3 person bal is a bit tough.
2) shouldn't that be up to buzz and justin?
so what's the latest news about this bal class?
We plan on asking Tommy and Bug to teach a 4 or 5 week course as the Master's class next semester.
Private Buzz, I want a SITREP on this Balboa workshop series from Tom&Bug ASAP!
Carry on, private.
We want a workshop! We want a workshop!
ElChuy:We want a workshop! We want a workshop!
yep.
I'm still afraid to Bal in BYU. Although I don't have any problems dancing with Buzz or bobthecow [Emoticon not found]
urmmmmmm....

so...you're okay Bal-ing not at BYU? Are you afraid of getting caught? And also, I'd be more concerned with looking like I prefer persons of the same gender than with getting cozy while dancing with someone of the opposite gender.

you could bal with buzz.
Sorry, I don't bal with guys.

workshop! workshop! workshop!
Balboa is quite useful on a floor packed with dancers.
or during reaally fast songs.
i really want to learn to bal... pweeeeze?
it's funny to watch BYU peeps making an attempt to Bal. They usually end up having a foot of space between them and their partners' chests [Emoticon not found]
BYU Bal? That's great. I first learned to Bal like that. And it was by people who really knew how to Bal, and I think they were trying to make it BYU friendly
How could you lead anybody if you Bal like this? <---- ---->
[quote][cite] geek4life:[/cite]How could you lead anybody if you Bal like this? <---- ---->[/quote]
it's actually kind of a compression lead, but it is lead through the arms, not through the chest... it is a little strange, especially once you've done it the other way.
chest2chest is more fun and less work [Emoticon not found] , but not at BYU. I still value my life.

My question is: When are we having bal workshops at BYU?
Carla Heiney and Marty Kelmpner
Can I post a video of a lead and a follow dancing chest-to-chest on byu's forum?

I think you're the only one who's paranoid.
Heh...I just thought of this: "when we're out together, dancing chest to chest...."
Wow, I didn't know Irving Berlin knew bal.
