I have to say, I have been wondering for a while what the nickname means... stack of what? And why does it pop?
Computer Science lingo. A stack is a collection of items from which you add to and remove from the top. The process of adding to the stack is pushing the item onto the stack while removing an item from the top of the stack is a pop, or popping the stack.
In particular each computer program has it's own stack where all the functions that have been called sit on top of each other, pushing and popping as you run your program.
Why he's called popthestack. . . I'm afraid I don't know him well enough to give an authoritative answer.
Thanks for the link... very interesting... I didn't know that that was the context of the nick...
I started using the nickname in a rather weird way. I was on the UofU swing team (now non-existant) and we were coming up with a name for ourselves. 4 of the 5 guys on the team were all programmers and someone suggested popthestack. We really couldn't think of anything else so we went with it. We never used the name though, because it was a pain to explain to people. Not to mention, it's a really dumb name for a swing team. I did, however, start using the name on forums just for fun.
And that's my story.
So, each night on the dance floor I pop follows off my list of who to dance with as I dance with them. ha. okay, that was lame.
thanks for the story time, pops. [Emoticon not found]
