What are you guys all doing for the summer? Sticking around Provo. Visiting Provo for those poor misguided souls that don't reside here? Living in other places besides Provo?

I was thinking more along the lines of jujitsu or rock climbing (even though I'm scared of heights). I have to exercise some how.

Jujitsu is a martial art where you get to taste the other person's sweat and odor, literally. I don't recommend Jujitsu to women because there will be groping. But I can hook you up if you really want to do it.

    for example

Yes, there is a lot of grope and grab in Jujitsu, but it's great for strength and endurance because you're exerting all your weight and effort against all of someone elses weight and effort, which can really strengthen and tone places weights never would. A more organic work out. That said, I took the class and don't have time for it after swing 3 nights a week (my cardio).

Strength helps, but it doesn't do you any good if you don't know how to use it. Jujitsu is more about using your own leverage. One of the best grapplers in my gym is a scrawny 150 pounds guy.

I was talking to Charlie and he said that Brazilian jujitsu is more ground grabbling but traditional jujitsu (I think it's japanese) involves all kinds of things like kicks, stricks, throws, locks, etc. That's why I wanted to look into more. I took some basic self defense classes along time ago and we did lots of strikes and kicks and even some weapons. Then I took a semester of Akido, which was more locks, throws and such. I want to find something that involves both. However, if jujitsu doesn't turn out to be what I want. I would definately consider going back to Akido.

or maybe I'll just make model trains [Emoticon not found]

Speaking of Charlie. Charlie and I could have been long lost twins. I mean, we graduated from East High school. We were wrestlers (Charlie's cousin was the team captain). He served in the very same Army's unit that I'm in now. We both enjoy Lindy Hop and Jujitsu. We also own enough firearms to invade Canada. [Emoticon not found]
