    From Arab newspaper

    apparently

a political cartoon > assassination of Franz Ferdinand Neutral

and what the heck anyway, the radical Islamic community isn't exactly tolerant of other people's beliefs -- and are in fact quite vocal about it. But a newspaper prints a cartoon and all hell breaks loose?

The irony and idoicy of these militants proving the comic accurate is the craziest part of this whole fiasco.

    i disagree.

i think that the artist had incredibly bad taste to print such an inflammatory cartoon, and that applies to any cartoon mocking another religion. you would be just as offended if you saw a similar cartoon about God, Jesus, Joseph Smith, among other Mormon religious figures. You might react less violently, but that doesn't negate the fact that it is okay to be angry about that cartoon.

"angry Muslims staged violent protests against jokes they consider blasphemous."

The irony is that in overreacting the way they have, those protesters are behaving exactly like that cartoon suggests Muslims behave. They're reinforcing every negative stereotype the West has about Islam.

There was a guy in the news who is Muslim who was advocating that the cartoonist be punished (meaning killed) for insulting Muhomad. There is no compromise with these extremists, it's either their way or you get the Hassan CHOP!!!

The cartoons are not funny or clever anything. It's just blatantly ignorant and painted with "too broad a brush" if you know what I mean. I can see why it's offensive. But I still think the reactions are a little over the top. I think an editor with better judgement would not have let that image go to press.
